While wandering around the Barrio El Carmen
in Valencia, I happened on a bar called Taberna El Olivo, where people were sitting under a huge olive tree in the middle of a retro neighbourhood. I was drawn by the laughter that echoed down the narrow streets & where not a word of English was spoken. I managed to order a glass of red wine but a half uncorked bottle was brought instead with a dish of the most delicious marinated green olives. I also ordered Bacalao Frito which I knew was something fried, hopefully fish. When this dish was delivered in a funnel type of cardboard, it was the ultimate in Spanish fish fingers, so tasty & freshly made to order.
My mouth and spirit are salivating! Xx
